Adam Husler

Adam Husler, London

Drawing from a variety of lives lived off the mat, Adam Husler( E-500RYT) brings a unique perspective to those who seek more from yoga than making pretty shapes. He offers creative, effective and clearly-sequenced teachings that focus on balancing flexibility and strength; physically and mentally. Educated by globally renown teachers, including Jason Crandell and

Michael Stone, Adam specialises in a signature style of Alignment-Based Vinyasa— fuelled by a fascination with anatomy and a desire to ask ‘why?’

Adam believes that yoga is a personally subjective practice of self enquiry, where one thing is for certain: whether a long-time listener, first time caller, or anywhere in between… yoga offers us all plenty of options to challenge and reward. Start small, go slow, practise, and all is coming. With a robust home schedule in London and leading workshops, trainings and festivals continuously around the world, including teaching on Jason Crandell’s 200hr training, Adam has thousands of teaching hours under his belt. You can find Adam chatting on the Honestly Unbalanced podcast and teaching online, including on thehuslers.com platform.

16:00 : Heavenly Hips and Tight Bits (Studio 3)

Hunching over desks, cycling commutes, slouching over an smartphones, picking up kettlebells/ children/puppies etc. are all activities that feature in modern lives, but that can actually create some less than desirable effects in the body. When our activities develop habitual movement patterns, or cultivate tightness and weakness in particular areas of the body, we need needs some time doing exactly the opposite actions.

If yoga is a practice of balance and equanimity, we need to apply that to our bodies as much as any thing else Thorough this workshop you will:

- Practice a vinyasa based sequence, targeting those common problem areas, inc; shoulders, chest, hips, legs and plenty more.

- Be encouraged to find flexibility in the stiff bits and strength in the weak and loose bits.

- Explore the difference between passive and active range of motion via mobility exploration and deep static poses

- Maybe laugh, maybe cry, but certainly take home some useful ideas on how you can find more balance in you body, both in class and at home.

- Enjoy and long guided savasana and balancing meditation.

This workshop is for anyone with a regular practice

Saturday

12:30 : Twist and Twist Again (Studio 2)

There’s a family of asana that every 21st-century body loves and needs, the twists! We’ll begin by touching base on the mechanics of what’s happening in your body when you twist with integrity, then via a controlled vinyasa practice, we’ll gradually explore the core-muscles required for non-levered twist and then begin to add some leavers, gradually getting deeper into our opening and closing twists. We’ll explore adding our new found twists to increasingly challenging balancing poses and arm balances like grasshopper, side crow, koundinyasana A and revolved bird of paradise.

16:15 : Bigger, Balanced Backbends (Studio 1)

There are plenty of ways to shortcut your way into a pose, or at least something that looks like the pose on quick inspection, but here we’ll be focusing on integrity over aesthetics. Backbends have countless benefits, if done mindfully, but have lots of less-than-desirable outcomes if you are ‘chasing the shape’. Here, through a controlled vinyasa practice, we’ll be especially looking at; finding evenness, enhancing technique, building strength and finding comfort, in your backbends. We’ll strengthen your over- loose bits and open your over-tight bits. We’ll explore dancers, wheel, cobra, drop backs, bow and plenty more.

Sunday

11:30 : Happy feet and Balanced Roots (Studio 2)

We spend lots of time walking around in comfortable, fat trainers on artificially flat surfaces, meaning all the muscles in our feet never get the chance to wake up and be used! In this class we’ll explore every direction our toes, feet  and ankles can move in and then spending time putting weight in them in various ways. There will be deep stretching, mobility work and a fair bit of standing on one leg. Don’t worry: you whole body will feet this class too!

17:00 : Bigger Balanced Backbends (Zoom)

There will be no ‘chasing the shape’ but plenty of focus on what, why and how you are doing things!
